IT Infrastructure

Welcome to IT Department

The Institute is equipped with advanced IT Infrastructure catering to the Connectivity, Computing, Accessibility, and Conferencing needs of the Institute along with Staff, Faculty and Students.

Facilities

The Institute extends its Facilities through its IT Department. They are:

  1. Networking Facilities

The components of the 1 Gigabit backbone Network are:

  • Gigabit Core switch;
  • Gigabit Network edge switch;
  • Wireless controller;
  • Wi-Fi 6 enabled wireless access points;
  • Firewall and web security device;
  • Internet access authentication server; and
  • WPA2 Enterprise security.
  • VoIP Infrastructure.
  • Robust three-tier network spanning across the campus for connectivity to desktops/laptops across laboratories and offices.
  • Access to all facilities virtually to researchers on the move through VPN services and member of the EDUROAM international network, in addition to point-to-point connectivity for optimal utility of scientific resources.
  • a Seamless dual band campus wide Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz) access network with adherence to 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac standards.
  • Centrally controlled light weight Wi-Fi access points with wireless LAN controller catering to all buildings in the campus.

  1. Computing Facilities

Our Centralized HPC is HPE ProLiant Supercomputer.

  • 1 Head Node on HPE ProLiant DL360Gen10 with Dual Processors, each Twenty-Core Intel Xeon Gold 6148 processors with 12 X 8GB RAM and 2 X 1 TB of SATA Hot Plug disk powered with Centos 7 Operating System.
  • 14 Compute Nodes based on HPE ProLiant XL170rGen10 server with Dual processor, Twenty Core Intel Xeon Gold 6148 Processors with 12 X 16 GB RAM and 1 TB of SATA Hard disk in each node powered with Centos 7 Operating System.
  • Aggregating 150 TB of shared storage with Lustre File System.
  • Connectivity: – The first interconnect is on Mellanox InfiniBand EDR (100Gbps), a low latency network for DATA. The second interconnect is based on a 24 port HPE managed GigE Switch for Network connectivity between nodes. The third interconnect is based on a 24 port HPE managed GigE Switch for the Console network.
  • Software: – Open source and commercial software are installed in the commonplace such the way access by all the users.

  1. Audio and Video
  • Hybrid Classrooms – All our institute classrooms are equipped with high-end AV devices for Virtual classes.
  • Digital signage and video wall.

  1. Computer Laboratory
  • Our computer lab is powered by more than 100 Nos. of Computer terminals which are all running with GNU/Linux Operating System.

  1. Software’s
  • Bio render, Schrodinger, MATLAB, Mathematica, Origin, Endnote, ChemDraw and Open Source Sofwares like Gaussian, Gromacs, Open MPI etc.
