Admission to the Professional Master’s Program – August 2024

The Professional Master’s Program at IISER Tirupati is for highly motivated students /professionals, who wish to pursue / advance their career in Data Science and related fields. Students / Professionals with an excellent academic record can apply for the Professional Master’s Program upon completion of a four-year Bachelor‘s degree in science or technology or a Master’s degree in science or technology. The program combines curricula for theoretical and applied topics, blending together course work and hands-on learning. This enables the participants to be business-ready and industry-ready immediately upon successful completion of the program. The program will be offered in hybrid/online mode to enable seamless participation of working professionals.
IISER Tirupati offers modern research laboratories and computational facilities. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a broad range of seminars, meetings and workshops, thereby giving them a chance to interact with people from other research organizations within the country and abroad.

Overview of the Professional Master's Program

IISER Tirupati offers Professional Master’s program as a business-driven program with a blend of course work and hands-on experience. The program spans over a period of 2 semesters. The first semester of the program consists of 5 core courses, preparing the student with the topics in Mathematics and Programming required for learning Data Science, and an introductory course on Machine Learning. The second semester consists of 4 or 5 courses in Deep Learning and specialised areas of Artificial Intelligence, and / or a hands-on project. On successful completion of the program, the graduate will be ready to solve real-world problems in academia / industry.

The Professional Master’s program is being offered in the areas of Biological Data Science and Data Science & Artificial Intelligence.

Eligibility Criteria:

Common Eligibility Criteria:

Four-Year Bachelor’s degree in Science(BS) or Technology (B.E./B.Tech.) with at least 60% aggregate marks or a minimum CGPA of 6.0/10.0
(OR)
Master’s degree in Science(MS / M.Sc.) or Technology (M.E./ M.Tech.) with at least 55% aggregate marks or a minimum CGPA of 5.5/10.0
Applicants from industry or other organizations, freshers as well as mid-career professionals, are encouraged to apply.

Program-Specific Eligibility:

For Professional Master’s in BioDS:

Applicants with a B.Tech. in Biotechnology, BS/M.Sc. Bioinformatics or M.Sc. from any Biology discipline (with exposure to Bioinformatics) are encouraged to apply.

For Professional Master’s in DS-AI:

On top of the common eligibility, students must have taken Mathematics as a subject at the Class XII level.

Non-refundable Application Fees: Rs. 1000/-(Payment of Application Fee is mandatory for completion of the application process.)
