IISER Tirupati is an Institute of National Importance under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. It is a part of the chain of seven IISERs established to promote outstanding scientific research and education. IISER Tirupati is a leading global science institute that inspires and nurtures young minds, promotes interdisciplinary studies, and engages with industry and society. Considering the contemporary need for training business-ready professionals, IISER Tirupati is launching the following Professional Master’s Programs:

Application

IISER Tirupati invites applications for self-supporting 1-year Professional Master’s Programs for the Academic Year 2024-25. The two programs offered are: 1. Biological Data Science and 2. Data Science & Artificial Intelligence. The programs will be offered in hybrid/online mode to enable seamless participation of working / mid-career professionals. Successful completion of this program may offer attractive employment opportunities.

Duration of the Program: 1 Year (2 Semesters)

Mode of Conduct: Online/Hybrid

Common Eligibility Criteria:

  • Four-Year Bachelor’s degree in Science(BS) or Technology (B.E./B.Tech.) with at least 60% aggregate marks or a minimum CGPA of 6.0/10.0

  • Master’s degree in Science(MS / M.Sc.) or Technology (M.E./ M.Tech.) with at least 55% aggregate marks or a minimum CGPA of 5.5/10.0
  • Applicants from industry or other organizations, freshers as well as mid-career professionals, are encouraged to apply.

 

Program-Specific Eligibility:

For Professional Master’s in BioDS:

  • Applicants with a B.Tech. in Biotechnology, BS/M.Sc. Bioinformatics or M.Sc. from any Biology discipline (with exposure to Bioinformatics) are encouraged to apply.

 

For Professional Master’s in DS-AI:

  • On top of the common eligibility, students must have taken Mathematics as a subject at the Class XII level.

ADMISSION TO Ph.D. PROGRAM – JANUARY 2024

IISER Tirupati invites applications from prospective candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program in January 2024. IISER Tirupati admits students in the disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Earth and Climate Sciences, and associated interdisciplinary areas of research. In addition to research, the program involves coursework and teaching assistantships.

The department-specific eligibility criteria for January 2024 admissions are given below. Information about individual faculty profiles and areas of research can be obtained from the IISER Tirupati website.

General Information to the Applicants:

  1. The candidate MUST have qualified at least ONE of the above-mentioned essential eligibility criteria in relevant discipline.
  2. The fellowships/scores/ranks must be valid at the time of joining the course.
  3. For candidates belonging to SC/ST, PWD and KM category, the percentage of marks may be relaxed by 5% or 0.5 in the case of CGPA.
  4. Candidates in the final year of their qualifying degree (as mentioned in the minimum criteria) are also eligible to apply. However, their final selection is subject to their successful completion of the qualifying degree with the above-mentioned requirements at the time of admission. A provisional degree certificate is mandatory at the time of admission.
  5. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Selection Procedure:

The shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview and the final selection is based on interview performance.
TA/DA will be provided to the SC/ST/PD students appearing for the interview as per institute norms.

Fellowship:

Upon selection and subsequently joining the PhD program, candidates who do not possess any CSIR, DBT and INSPIRE, will be eligible for institute fellowship at par with CSIR, DBT etc., but without HRA and Contingency components.

Age Relaxation:

Preferably not more than 28 years at the time of joining. Age relaxation of 3 years will be given for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and 5 years for SC/ST/PWD/Female candidates as per GOI norms. Candidates belonging to the reserved category will have to submit relevant certificates, if selected. Relaxation may also be given whenever suitable candidates are not available, in exceptional circumstances.
