In today’s data-driven world, considering the contemporary need for training business-ready professionals, IISER Tirupati launched the following Professional Master’s Programs in 2024:
1. Biological Data Science (BioDS)
2. Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (DS-AI)

Admission for the year 2025-2026 are now open.

The Professional Master’s Program at IISER Tirupati is aimed at highly motivated professionals and students who wish to pursue/progress their career in Data Science and allied fields. Candidates can apply for the Professional Master’s Program upon completion of a four-year Bachelor‘s degree in science or technology or computer applications or architecture or a Master’s degree in science or technology or computer applications. The programs combine curricula for theoretical and applied topics, blending together course work and hands-on learning. This enables the participants to be business-ready and industry-ready immediately upon successful completion of the program. The program will be offered in hybrid (BioDS)/online only (DS-AI) mode to enable seamless participation of working professionals.

IISER Tirupati offers modern research laboratories and computational facilities. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a broad range of seminars, meetings and workshops, thereby giving them a chance to interact with people from other research organizations within the country and abroad. Interaction wth industry shall also be facilitated to aid with possible employment opportunities.

Employment as Scientist / researcher in public and private enterprises including Pharma & Biotech industry, Sequencing companies, AI in Lifesciences etc.

Potential employment in public and private enterprises as Data Analyst / Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, Machine Learning Scientist, Technology specialized roles like NLP Specialist, etc.

Common Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage with all subjects) or CGPA 6.0/10.0 in any four-year undergraduate degree in Science(BS) or Technology(B.E./B.Tech.) or 4 Year BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications), or 4 Year B. Arch (Bachelor of Architecture) or with at least 55% aggregate marks or a minimum CGPA of 5.5/10.0 in Master’s degree in Science and computer applications (MS / M.Sc./MCA) or Technology (M.E./ M.Tech.), are eligible to apply. Applicants from industry or other organizations, freshers as well as mid-career professionals, are encouraged to apply.

ADMISSION TO Ph.D. PROGRAM – JANUARY 2024

IISER Tirupati invites applications from prospective candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program in January 2024. IISER Tirupati admits students in the disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Earth and Climate Sciences, and associated interdisciplinary areas of research. In addition to research, the program involves coursework and teaching assistantships.

General Information to the Applicants:

The candidate MUST have qualified at least ONE of the above-mentioned essential eligibility criteria in relevant discipline.
The fellowships/scores/ranks must be valid at the time of joining the course.
For candidates belonging to SC/ST, PWD and KM category, the percentage of marks may be relaxed by 5% or 0.5 in the case of CGPA.
Candidates in the final year of their qualifying degree (as mentioned in the minimum criteria) are also eligible to apply. However, their final selection is subject to their successful completion of the qualifying degree with the above-mentioned requirements at the time of admission. A provisional degree certificate is mandatory at the time of admission.
Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Selection Procedure:

The shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview and the final selection is based on interview performance.

TA/DA will be provided to the SC/ST/PD students appearing for the interview as per institute norms.

Applying does not automatically guarantee that a candidate will be shortlisted for an interview. The respective departments may use additional criteria (based on academic performance and/or performance in the national level tests) to shortlist candidates for interviews.

Fellowship:

Upon selection and subsequently joining the PhD program, candidates who do not possess any CSIR, DBT and INSPIRE, will be eligible for institute fellowship at par with CSIR, DBT etc., but without HRA and Contingency components.

Age Relaxation:

Preferably not more than 28 years at the time of joining. Age relaxation of 3 years will be given for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and 5 years for SC/ST/PWD/Female candidates as per GOI norms. Candidates belonging to the reserved category will have to submit relevant certificates, if selected. Relaxation may also be given whenever suitable candidates are not available, in exceptional circumstances.
